What is Hempcrete

An ancient material
rediscovered by modern builders.

Hempcrete is a bio-composite made from the inner woody core of the hemp plant mixed with lime and water. The result is a lightweight, insulating, carbon-sequestering material that has been used in construction for thousands of years.

Unlike conventional concrete, hempcrete breathes — regulating moisture and temperature naturally, resisting mold, and improving indoor air quality. It gets harder and stronger over time as the lime continues to mineralize.
